House cleaning in St. Gallen when you move in or out
Moving to St. Gallen? Then the first weeks bring a lease in German and boxes that sometimes arrive before the keys. One day, a property manager will inspect the flat.
Or it is the other way round: the lease ends, and the flat has to pass an inspection you have never seen before.
This page is for both moments. You write to us in English, and a local cleaning company does the job once.
Who comes to your flat
We are a booking platform. We take your request, estimate the hours, find a cleaning company in St. Gallen with free capacity and send the invoice.
The cleaners are employed and insured by the partner, so you never become an employer. We answer in English; the cleaner may speak German, French or another language, so a list with room names helps.
Every step from request to invoice is described on Reinigungsservice in St. Gallen (page in German).
Moving out: the Swiss handover
When a lease ends, the Verwaltung (property management) or the landlord walks through the empty flat with you. Together you sign an Abnahmeprotokoll, the handover report, and open cleaning points in it are what every tenant wants to avoid.
For this day, book the Endreinigung in St. Gallen (German page, English requests welcome). If the Verwaltung lists cleaning points within the agreed cleaning scope, the partner returns and cleans them again free of charge.
You agree the handover date yourself. If it follows right after the cleaning, the partner can stay by arrangement. Planning from moving day, with the new flat too? See Umzugsreinigung in St. Gallen (in German).
Moving in, or a flat you live in
A lived-in 2.5-room flat of around 60 m² takes about 3 working hours in total: kitchen, bathroom, dusting, floors. You decide which room comes first.
Something occurs to you on the day? Tell the cleaner: the clock keeps running and the extra time is billed. Windows are not part of a standard visit, so add them to your request.
At the end, walk through the rooms with the cleaner, and anything missed is done on the spot. If you notice something later, tell us within two days: justified cleaning defects within the agreed scope are cleaned again free of charge.
Hours, rate and why two cleaners cost no more
You pay on an hourly basis, with bookings from 2 hours. Equipment, supplies and travel are part of the hourly rate for St. Gallen, which your quote shows.
The estimate covers the total work, not each person. Two cleaners cost no more, they finish sooner: 4 estimated working hours mean about 2 hours on site for two.
If the flat needs more time than expected, say because the oven is dirtier than the photos showed, the working hours go up. That holds for one cleaner or two: the state of the rooms decides, not the team size.
Jobs above roughly 10 working hours start with a viewing, followed by a fixed price. The invoice comes from Mr. Cleaner after the final walkthrough.
Nearby towns and pages in German
Partners also work in nearby towns such as Gossau, Wittenbach, Gaiserwald.
Our detailed service pages are in German. Why a company with employed cleaners beats a private cleaner is explained on Reinigungsfirma in St. Gallen (German page).
In short: Moving to St. Gallen or leaving it, one request in English is enough. A local company cleans once, billed by the hour. For the handover, book the Endreinigung.

Size in m², your date and a few photos are enough for an estimate of the working hours.
Typical occasions
Empty flat, new keys
The keys are yours, the removal van comes next week. Right now every cupboard is empty and every corner within reach, so nothing stands in the cleaner's way.
- Drawers and kitchen cupboards, inside
- Inside of fridge and oven
- Bathroom with shower, Lavabo (washbasin) and toilet
- Radiators, light switches and floors in every room
For an empty flat of around 80 m², plan 3 to 4 working hours, cupboards and appliances included. A badly burnt-on oven takes longer. Details and the full list are on Wohnungsreinigung in St. Gallen (in German).
Viewings for a replacement tenant
Leaving before the notice date often means finding a replacement tenant, a Nachmieter. A flat that looks cared for makes those viewings easier, even while you still live in it.
- Kitchen fronts, hob and sink
- Bathroom free of limescale marks
- Dust on shelves, radiators and door frames
- Hallway and floors, ready for strangers' shoes
A lived-in 3.5-room flat of around 80 m² takes 3 to 4 working hours. Book it a day or two before the first viewing. One visit for the whole flat before an occasion is the topic of Reinigungskraft in St. Gallen (German page).
Flat-share changeover
In a WG (flat-share), rooms change hands while the kitchen and bathroom stay shared. When someone moves out, the shared rooms often show years of use.
- The empty room: cupboard inside, radiator, floor
- Shared fridge emptied by you, then cleaned inside
- Shower glass and taps descaled
- Kitchen shelves and hood wiped
The quote estimates the hours from your photos, so send a few of the kitchen and bathroom. If grease and limescale have built up for years, the right job is Grundreinigung in St. Gallen (deep cleaning, in German).
After guests or a party
The family visit is over, or the house-warming party ran late. One visit brings kitchen, bathroom and living room back into shape without a full clean of the flat.
- Kitchen surfaces, sink and hob
- Bathroom and guest toilet
- Floors in the living room and hallway
- Glasses and bottles cleared, bins emptied
The hours depend on how many rooms you add; tell us what matters most and the cleaner starts there. Red wine on the rug needs more than a cloth: see Teppichreinigung in St. Gallen (page in German).
When work leaves no time
New job, long days, business trips. The flat gets the bare minimum, and dust collects behind it. A single visit catches up on everything at once.
- Dusting shelves, lamps and radiators
- Kitchen and bathroom cleaned in full
- Floors including corners and under the bed
- Door handles and light switches
A lived-in 4.5-room flat of around 100 m² takes 4 to 5 working hours. For the whole household in one go, see Haushaltsreinigung in St. Gallen (German page).
Frequently asked questions
How is the price of a cleaning in St. Gallen worked out?
You pay the working hours times the hourly rate for St. Gallen. The rate is in your quote, before anything is booked.
- About 3 hours for a lived-in flat of around 60 m² (2.5 rooms)
- 4 to 5 hours for around 100 m² (4.5 rooms), lived in
- Oven, Storen or windows add time when you book them
- How the hours add up, worked through: Putzfirma in St. Gallen (in German)
You pay for the hours actually worked, nothing more.
Will the cleaner in St. Gallen speak English?
Maybe, but we cannot promise it. Your request and our quote run in English, while the cleaner's languages vary.
- Photos of kitchen and bathroom say more than words
- Short points with room names: Küche, Bad, Backofen
- Access and keys are agreed with the partner in advance
- Glass only, inside and out: Fensterreinigung in St. Gallen (German page)
Tip: If your name is not on the doorbell yet (sublet, company flat), add the bell name and floor to your request. The cleaner finds you first time, and your booked hours do not start with a search.
We run a small office in St. Gallen: can you clean it once?
Yes, as a one-off job. For example, when your own cleaner is on holiday or ill, or before an opening.
- Desks, kitchenette and washrooms
- Floors in offices and the entrance
- A larger one-off job is estimated after photos
- Offices, practices or shops cleaned once: Gebäudereinigung in St. Gallen (in German)
Ongoing office cleaning is not something we offer; each job is booked and invoiced on its own.
I rent a furnished flat in St. Gallen: can I book a cleaning?
Yes. A furnished flat is cleaned like any lived-in flat, around the furniture. Tell us what belongs to the landlord, so the cleaner treats it with care.
- Furniture stays in place and is cleaned around
- Sensitive surfaces, such as oiled wood, belong in the request
- The landlord's inventory list helps for a move-out
- Stains on the landlord's sofa: Polsterreinigung in St. Gallen (page in German)
Leaving a furnished flat follows the same handover as any other. The report then covers the furniture too.
No Swiss bank account yet: how do I pay for a cleaning in St. Gallen?
You can pay by card on site or online. A credit card stored when you accept the quote is only charged after the cleaning.
- Debit or credit card on site, after the joint walkthrough
- Credit card online, charged after the cleaning
- Bank transfer is also available; contact us if your account is outside Switzerland
The invoice comes from Mr. Cleaner either way. Keep it with your other moving papers.
